Above are good. I basically like a car. The main expense will be liability insurance if you hit something. Depending on age, just like a car, you may not be able to get Collision to fix your boat, just insurance to fix someone else's or a boat dock etc.

I had liability on a 17 foot boat and it was on the car insurance. It was not much, about $50 extra a year.

It won't be for the amount of money you paid for it but how long is the boat.. a small boat will obviously cost less than a larger one. Check with your auto insurance agent about boat insurance its usually not too bad, more than motorcycle insurance.

like any vehicle it matters what type of coverage you want , where you will be using it, and where you live. In ft lauderdale, FL..a 22' center consoleworth about 20,000 cost me about 450 per year
