Boat question?

Question

What are the two things called that sometimes are put on some boats under it to keep balance. They look as triangles and they go all along the base of the boat. its something like this if you look from back of the boat, except that they are bigger. I think they are usually set on catamarans to keep balance.

A keel is a good answer, or you might be talking about trim tabs that are hydralically moved with an electric switch in the boat at the helm.  Hope this helps.

the keel if its a sailboat  a rudder if it turns and a skag if they are fixed in position

Bilge keels?

These are strips of wood, generally about 4 ft long on a 15ft boat, about 3/4 inch wide and 3/4 inch deep. They help to protect the bottom of the boat, as they will rub on the bottom first.

are they fins coming off of the bottom of the katamaran hulls, then they are keels.  I am assuming you know they are not trim tabs for trimming out the boat. they do have hydrolic fins coming off through the hull, they are generally in the center of the hull or towards the stern , they are known as stabilizers, they automatically pivot to keep the vessel stable.they are called fin stablizers if thats what you are refering to.
