Can someone explain the process of switching the title for a waberunner. I just sold mine and the title is currently in my name in Pennsylvania and we need to switch over to the new owner in New Jersey. Anyone know the process or where I can get information on this? Thanks

  1. Boats and PWC's do not have a title, they have a registration.  You must have a bill of sale written out explaining the terms and price of the sale with a copy to the buyer with both you the seller and the buyer's signature.

Do NOT sign anything UNTIL you get the money in hand at time of sale.  Avoid anyone offering a check, insist on cash.

Once the Bill of Sale is signed and money is exchanged, you must sign on the part of the registration that releases the registration to the new owner.  If unsure, call your state DMV and ask them about this.

The PWC's trailer however does have a title.  You will need to sign over the PWC trailer title to the buyer.

If the buyers are first time users, I would warn them to immediately get it registered and the trailer title processed before the state declared deadline.  If they don't, they can be charged very expensive penalties and possibly have a lien put on it if they don't register within a certain deadline.
