  1. You will have enough power to pull a skier, 35 -40 mph is more likely what you will see in top speed.

  2. 60 nph is about what your volvo will get to and with that you have more than enof power to pull anyone

  3. not sure of a volvo we have a 135 hp evinrude out board,  and it runs about 60 mph , 17 ft boat , with weight of me and hubby and 4 kids and we pull skiiers, hydro board , tube , and it gets up and goes no prob ,

  4. I have a 18.5 foot open bow boat with 140hp mercury engine. I can have 4-5 adults onboard and pull ski with no problem. My top speed with 4 people is 40-45 and I have a regular prop no specialties. I also pull large tubes with 2-3 very fast. Hope this helps!

  5. It's dependent on your propeller pitch.  Sometimes people will put on a high speed prop that will lack the torque to lift a skier.  You could also 'prop it' to bring up four skiers but the top speed would suffer dramatically.  Test it and pitch it accordingly.  Some people have two props, one for each use and also serves as a spare in the event of an accident damaging the propeller.

  6. 60 MPH out of a 3.0volvo? I doubt it..unless you prop the snot out of it...

You would talk to you rlocal marine shop, they can tell you the nest propr for the APPLICATION. There are props for pulling skiers and props for top speed. Your 3.0 can pull a skier, just wont be able to have a boat load of people and tugging a skier down the lake.

  7. I had a Four Winns Horizon 170 FS & I was lucky to get 45mph out of it, this was a V-6 190hp. More people (weight) less mph, encluding gas weight. Four Winns Horizon 170 FS plans real slow, so it makes it difficult to pull a skier.
