Boat trim not working, please help?

We have a 2002 Caravelle Boat with a Volvo Penta engine and unfortunately we are having problems with the trim. We had the boat out all day yesterday and it worked fine. We tried putting the boat in the water today and the trim would not go down. It didnt even make a noise whenever we tried to power it down. The engine was working and everything else was powering on. Then only thing that I can think may of happened was we left the boat out all night last night with heavy rain. Could this have faulted the wires in the trim switch? I checked the fuse and its not the issue. Please help.

Thanks in advance.

  1. You say that it won't go down but I will assume that the up is still working. If so then you most likely have a wire that has come loose or apart. If you cannot fine a problem with this you can check your switch using a 12 volt test light.Check to see if there is power coming out of the switch when you push it to the down position. If there is no power then you need a new switch. If you have power then the there is a problem at the trim pump.Hope this helps.

  2. You might have a loose connection somewhere.  I once had this problem on my nitro bass boat.  I checked the back of the throttle handle and sure enough, the wires to the trim was loose.
