Boateng sorry for Ballack

Michael Ballack the German captain has been ruled out of the upcoming FiFa World Cup, due to an injury he suffered in the FA Cup Final, the last game of the English season, and the man who made the challenge on Ballack. Ghana midfielder Kevin Prince Boateng has come under serious criticism from fans all over, but the African player has come out apologising for the incident, saying it was not intentional and all he wanted was to get the ball.

Ballack suffered a blow to his right ankle, during the FA Cup Final between Chelsea and Portsmouth, which at first was not believed to be that serious but eventually proved to be severe and eventually ended the midfielder’s dream of appearing probably in his last World Cup. Boateng, who will be leading his country Ghana at the World Cup, insisted that there was no menace in his challenge, and he is very upset about Ballack not being able to make it to the World Cup.

"I am sorry. It was not intentional. I just came in too late and made full contact.

"It looks pretty stupid,"

The apology came 3 days after the incident in question, which took place at Wembley. However, it has not done much to dampen the anger felt by the Germans, who believe it was a deliberate move from Boateng to deprive them of their captain for the biggest sporting event. Ballack is believed to be out of action for a while, he will not even start training for at least 8 more weeks, after limping away from the pitch in the final 5 minutes after the half hour mark, where Chelsea did manage to win the final 1-0.

Ballack and German fans all over have not held back their anger; dozens of Websites are calling him 'public enemy number one' and a number of chat rooms and blogs have been set up against the Ghana player, called Anti Boateng Club. Boateng who was born in Berlin, and has a Ghanaian father and while his mother is German; he has not had the best of relationships with the German fans, ever since his days with Hertha Berlin. While he is also related to one of Germany’s football hero’s Helmut Rahn, who famously was the one who scored the winning goal for West Germany in the 1954 World Cup final against Hungary. He has still had no luck where the Germans are concerned.

The big irony here is that while Boateng will be leading his country in Ghana in the World Cup, his half brother Jerome is part of the preliminary Germany’s probable squad for the World Cup, and if that was not enough Ghana and Germany is also in the same group in the World Cup, and Boateng is sure to hear a lot of boos from the German fans when he takes to the pitch in the World Cup on June 23rd. Ballack, who will be missing his 3rd World Cup, was flown to Sicily on Monday, and after scan it was revealed that there was a tear on one ankle ligament and also a partial tear on another Ligament.
