From Florida, island hopping out towards the U.S. Virgin islands, by small vessel, 32' cabin cruiser, can you be in sight of islands the whole way? From 1 island to another.

  1. Your biggest concern will be fuel capacity in some areas.  Pick your route to take advantage of the wind and currents.

  2. nope, you will not be able to see the Bahamas as you head east away from Florida.

I've never taken my boat farther than the Bahamas, but depending on your speed, you shouldn't be out of site of land for more than an hour or so....don't panic, hold course, you will see the islands soon. All you really need is a hand held GPS!

  3. it's done all the time and the cruising guide you want is called the "Thornless Path To Windward" by Bruce van Sant....you can go down the length of the Bahamas, hop over to Haiti and the DR then Pr and then you're here ( ST Thomas)......some overnight trips and some out of sight of land......

I seriously doubt you have enough fuel capacity though.......gas docks are few and far between from Turks and Caicos to north coast of DR and you DONT want to look for fuel in Haiti....

a 32 foot cabin cruiser also sounds too small and tot light for the beating you'll take in the Old Bahama Channel and the Mona and Virgin Passage.......a 38 foot trawler yacht? sure...a 32 foot Sea Ray......uh uh
