  1. There are launching ramps in New Jersey behind/ alongside the Statue of Liberty which looks over NY Harbor. This is next to Liberty State Park.  I sail in NY Harbor often from my marina where I keep my sailboat year long in the same park.  Fantastic views of the Manhattan skyline in absolute quietness, very different from strolling around Manhatten.

  2. So, one would assume you want to drive around the Statue of Liberty, etc. Be aware of some boating laws first;

    1. New York State does no require any boating education for adults to operate a "boat", only a PWC/Jetski. So, launch in NYS waters and stay in NYS waters- the NYS part of NY harbor. Keep in mind New Jersey waters are part of the harbor and....

    2. New Jersey law states that you MUST posess a boating safety card and carry the original with you before entering NJ waters. So, be sure you have with you your Canadian Pleasure Boat Operators Card and that it is endorsed by NASBLA. If not, you won't be able to use it in NJ. But, you can use your boat in NY.

    You'll also want to be aware that the United Nations has security zones to which you can't enter especially when dignitary's are in town, etc.

    Once you've got all that covered, you can find plenty of places to launch your boat by visiting http://nysparks.state.ny.us/boating/reso... which lists the NYS Boating ramps. You may also find plenty of private launch ramps along the way.

    Good luck!

    And oh yeah, don't waterski or tube or anything behind your boat after sunset in New York. They didn't like it very much when I did, even though it was still very much light out.
