Boating safety certificate?

I have a boating safety certificate from Michigan, we took the test in school and the instructor gave us a certificate with his signature on it. Now I live in Canada and is this still valid ? or do I have to write the test again in Canada ?

  1. Your certificate would be recognized. Just have it with you.

    I know this because I was an instructor for the safe boating course when it was first required in 2000.
