  1. When I enquired (15 years ago) with Customs & Excise about bringing a second-hand yatch back from the USA, they told me that, in addition to VAT, there was also a 'boat duty' that must be paid.  At the time this was more than VAT, but I don't know the current situation.  You would need to enquire with HMRC.

  2. You not need VAT registration unless you go over the annual limit of 54,000 gross income. You will need to show that vat has been paid and have full documentations of bill of sales etc. How will you transport as you could sail/motor them back. If so then you need to see the RYA for information on licences.

  3. Contact Lloyds Register for advice.

  4. As the others say, you don't have be licenced, but your business has to be registered for VAT, and (very important) the boats have to have valid RCD (Recreational Craft Directive) certificates for the intended use. In a recent case, a company in UK was selling boats with fake RCD, and four people died in one.

  5. Well you have to be registered as a business and pay tax but you dont need any special liscence to sell watercraft!
