Bob Arum: A fourth match between Marquez and Pacquiao is possible – Boxing News
Top Rank promoter Bob Arum has confirmed that a fourth episode between Mexican Juan Manuel Marquez and Filipino Manny Pacquiao if possible. Arum, who initially thought of carrying out a rematch between Pacquiao and Bradley, is now considering Marquez or
Cotto for November 10. In his recent interview, Arum revealed that he has no plans as of now, but the fight with Marquez is surely possible.
Arum said that they have to see which fight is more lucrative and that Pacquiao has a choice as to which fight he wants to go for. He added that Pacquiao's last bout against Marquez was a very close one and that some people felt Marquez had won. Arum even
said that nobody believes Pacqiuao lost to Bradley so that rematch can wait a bit.
Arum further said, “We have to convince the public that the (Pacquiao-Bradley) rematch will be somewhat different. Which is an easier sell? I speak the truth. I think that Tim Bradley is a lovely young man who tried very hard, but Bradley lost that fight.
Period. I'm not going to say anything in a situation like this to cater to (Bradley’s manager) Cameron Dunkin, or to cater to Tim Bradley. They’re lovely, nice people and I applaud them. But Pacquiao won this fight, and he won it easily. Period. End of the
story. We will wait and see what happens in the rematch... If Bradley wins, then why not have a fight between him and myself at welterweight?”
Manny Pacquiao lost his WBO welterweight title to Timothy Bradley on June 9 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas through a split decision. However, neither Arum nor Pacquiao was happy with the results. Even the fans in the arena and worldwide protested against
the judgement calling it a ‘robbery’. Arum immediately called out a rematch on Pacquiao’s request. However, as of now, Team Pacquiao is not sure of Pacquiao’s next venture. A bout against Marquez is possible is highly demanded by the fans. Since most of Pacquiao’s
fans were left disheartened after his controversial loss to Bradley, their interest in the rematch might not be as much as in a fourth episode fight against Marquez.
