Bob Arum: A fresh fighter like Timothy Bradley can be dangerous for Pacquiao – Boxing News
While most analysts have rated Bradley as 3 to 1 underdog, Hall of Famer promoter Bob Arum dares to make a change. According to Arum, Bradley is not as popular as Pacquiao’s previous opponents, but he definitely is a dangerous fighter. In his recent interview,
Pacman’s promoter warned Pacquiao against Bradley resilience and inexperience.
When asked about Bradley’s chances against Pacquiao, Arum stated, “Bradley is not a great name. But he’s a great fighter, and he’s young, and he’s fresh. When you have a fresh fighter who hasn’t taken a lot of punishment in his career, he can be very dangerous.
I think that the important element with Bradley is his mind. He’s a very, very determined young man. Very confident and determined as far as his abilities are concerned, and that is a tremendous plus for any athlete. To have it where the mind really takes
over and gives him confidence in his performance – that’s a plus.”
Even Pacquiao supported Arum’s statements by saying that he is not taking this fight lightly and that he knows an unbeaten fighter like Timothy Bradley should not be underestimated.
Pacquiao’s previous opponents included Oscar de la Hoya, Miguel Cotto, Antonio Margarito and Juan Manuel Marquez. The Filipino WBO Welterweight champion has beaten them all to become the number one pound for pound fighter today. Compared to his previous
opponents, Timothy Bradley is quite young and inexperienced yet Pacquiao does not want to underestimate him. In his previous interview, Pacquiao said that Bradley is a tough fighter which is why he has remained unbeaten to date.
On the other hand, Pacquiao’s coach Freddie Roach believes that Pacquiao can easily beat Bradley. According to Roach, Pacquiao will finish Bradley in six rounds, most probably with a knockout victory. While Pacquiao and his coach are confident of beating
Bradley, Arum thinks they should play with the fighter wisely and should not take him lightly.
Pacquiao will have WBO welterweight title on the line against Bradley on June 9 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. For Bradley, this is his first mega-bout and on the line is his unbeaten streak.
