Bob Arum: Even Bradley thought he had lost – Boxing News
A split decision win over Manny Pacquiao has not done much good to the new WBO welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao. It was a fight that has taken the boxing world with a storm, has enraged fans all around the world and has flooded social media websites
with negativity. This was a fight that supposedly was a ‘close one’ but most fans and analysts saw it as a one-sided match. While giving an interview to a credible news channel, promoter Bob Arum lost his temperament and lashed out on the judges.
Arum was talking about the fight and what he think had went wrong. According to Arum, “Something like this is so outlandish, it's a death knell for the sport. This is f------ nuts. I have both guys, and I'll make a lot of money in the rematch, but it's ridiculous.
You have these old f---- who don't know what the h**l they're looking at. It's incompetence. Nobody who knows anything about boxing could have Bradley ahead in the fight.”
He added, “I went over to Bradley before the decision and he said, 'I tried hard but I couldn't beat the guy.”
It is quite a dilemma that Pacquiao had to lose to Bradley is such an offensive way. Surely, the Filipino will get his rematch but this defeat alone is enough to mark the end of Pacquiao’s era. While talking about Bradley’s loss, Abigail Valte spokeswoman
for the President of the Philippines said, “Manny Pacquiao failed to defend the WBO welterweight belt against Timothy Bradley, but the Filipino people’s support for their champion remains strong as ever.”
After the fight, Pacquiao did not hesitate to challenge Bradley for a rematch. The Pac-man was in shock to hear that he lost but he maintained his calm attitude. However, his corner people such as trainer Freddie Roach and Bob Arum lashed out on the judges.
On the other hand, Bradley was highly impressed with Pacquiao’s resilience, speed and fighting capabilities. After the fight, he acknowledged the fact that Pacquiao indeed is a warrior who does not give up no matter how hard he is hit.
