Bob Arum: Floyd Mayweather will never fight Manny Pacquiao because of his right hand – Boxing news
The chief of Top Rank Promotions, Bob Arum, believes a super-fight between the five-division world champion, Floyd Mayweather, and the eight-division world champion, Manny Pacquiao, will never become real, as he reckons Mayweather knows he can never beat
Pacquiao in the ring.
“That fight will never, ever happen,” Arum told ESPN.com.
The 34-year-old, Mayweather, who is the current World Boxing Council World Welterweight Champion, wants the Filipino star to agree for Olympic-style drug testing because he thinks Pacquiao uses performance-enhancing drugs ahead of his bouts.
However, Arum has a different point of view. Arum claimed Mayweather has a glass jaw and he knows Manny’s right hand very well so he will never fight him. Arum then passed a staggering statement in which he predicted Pacquiao will knockout Mayweather within
the first five rounds, if the two ever meet in the ring.
Arum said, “When Mayweather talks about how he hates Top Rank he's talking bulls**t. What Mayweather hates is Manny's right hand. Mayweather has no chin and Manny will knock him out. Pacquiao and Mayweather is a three or four round fight.”
The undefeated American legend Mayweather holds a perfect record of winning all of his 42 professional fights, with 26 of his wins coming by the way of a knockout. He was also formerly rated as the number one pound-for-pound fighter in the world before he
was removed from the rankings due to his inactivity. Thus, Arum admitted Mayweather is an intelligent fighter who knows a lot about the sport but on the same note he stated it is Manny’s right hand due to which Mayweather is not fighting him.
“The one thing Mayweather has had throughout his career is he knows boxing. He understands boxing and Mayweather cannot compete with Manny. It's the right hand of Manny that is preventing that fight from happening. If Manny agreed just to jab with the right
hand the fight would be made in 30 seconds,” Arum added.
Pacquiao is currently rated as the best pound-for-pound fighter in the world yet many out there think Mayweather is still the best in the pound-for-pound rankings.
