Bob Arum: Manny Pacquiao, Floyd Mayweather Junior bout possible in November – Boxing news
Bob Arum, Manny Pacquiao’s promoter and the guy notorious for prioritising business over the energetic sport of boxing and who is alleged for sucking up the real soul out of the sport, believes that a Manny Pacquiao-Floyd Mayweather Junior collision is possible
but only in the month of November and not before that.
The following comments were put forth by the Top Rank owner while talking to a reputable channel. Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Junior are two men who reign over the boxing world after the Klitschko brothers.
When a brawl of epic nature is dreamed about only a few names pop up in each and everyone’s mind. Among those lies the name of these two men who have collected huge accolades and laurels in their resume.
Currently only few scenarios are left in the boxing world that can attract huge fan base. A clash between the Klitschko brothers or a bout between Floyd and Manny are among those most anticipated scenarios that fans want to see become a reality.
Manny and Floyd would have agreed upon the bout on May 5 but thanks to Bob who always looks after the corporate interests rather than the essence of the sport itself.
Bob was of the view that a brawl between these two prolific pugilists is only possible in the early dates of June, 9th or 10th June to be specific, since the under construction Las Vegas arena will get completed.
Floyd on the other hand rejected the idea because he was bound to start his 87-day jail term from 1st June. Later on after a series of verbal skirmishes the charm of the bout ended altogether since boxing fanatics realised that it’s not likely until end
of October or November. And now surprisingly Arum is also stating the same possibility.
As a result of the overwhelmingly interfering corporate interests the boxing world will not witness these two men in the same squared ring. Arum’s same concern for his golden goose Manny has provoked Miguel Cotto to divert himself towards taking on Floyd.
Miguel was contacted by Manny and Co with a stipulation of deducing weight.
Miguel totally refused to accept the request and is now opting to clash with the Money Boy. Bob while backing up his corporate ideology said, "What we are trying to accomplish assuming he [Mayweather] is going to fight in May and Manny is going to fight
in June, is that we are pressing to see if we can get a contract signed between the two fighters for November. That way the people will be assured that the fight is going to happen and there won't be any of this nonsense which we can put behind us so we can
do a huge, huge promotion."
