Bob Arum: Pacquiao will not be fighting at the age that Juan Manuel is fighting now – Boxing News
Speculations of Filipino Manny Pacquiao’s retirement were already in the air just when Bob Arum confirmed them. According to Hall of Famer promoter Bob Arum, Manny Pacquiao will only have three more fights after his bout with Bradley. He added that Pacquiao
would not fight at the age Juan Manuel Marquez is fighting right now.
In his recent interview, he came up saying, “Pacquiao's going to turn what, 34? Manny Pacquiao told me he will only fight Tim Bradley and then three more times after that. I believe Manny on this. He will not be fighting at the age that Juan Manuel [Marquez]
is fighting now. When he becomes governor of Sarangani Province, Manny will have more daily responsibilities than he does as a congressman now… That executive position will be a lot more work for Manny than what he faces now. Manny will fight again in November
and then twice next year,” said Arum. “That's it, end of story.”
While fans and Pacquiao’s son want the Filipino superstar to beat American unbeaten Floyd Mayweather Jr., Arum is completely of a different view. In his previous interview, Arum spoke about Pacquiao vs. Mayweather. According to him, the fight will not happen
this year but probably next year. However, on the other hand, British Pakistani boxer Amir Khan is eyeing a match with Floyd Mayweather Jr.
As for now, Manny Pacquiao is in Baguio City training hard for speed, power and resilience. He wants to give it hard to Timothy Bradley, an unbeaten American pugilist known for his rough style. Pacquiao’s trainer Freddie Roach thinks that Manny Pacquiao
has all the abilities to beat Bradley but he just needs to be a bit more careful of Bradley’s elbows and head. On the other hand, Pacquiao thinks that he will counter Bradley’s head and elbows with his ferocious punches. Pacquiao also has a Bradley ‘clone’
in his camp who can imitate Bradley’s rough style so that Pacquiao. This way, Pacquiao believes he will have a better idea of fighting a pugilist like Bradley who can give him headbutts and elbow shots.
