Bob Arum submits formal inquiry request for Pacquiao vs. Bradley bout – Boxing News
CEO and Chairman of Top Rank, Bob Arum has finally submitted an appeal with the Nevada State Attorney General’s office for inquiring into the result of Manny Pacquiao vs. Timothy Bradley PPV that took place past Saturday. According to Arum, fans have the
right to know what went wrong with the judges that they gave a split decision win to Bradley, even though the match was in Manny’s control.
Arum, who was unhappy with the results like everyone else from day one, notified, “The public has a right to know. The fighters have a right to know. The only way to restore fans’ confidence in boxing is by letting an independent body investigate every detail
of the fight no matter how big or small. Sunshine never hurt anyone.”
The event was held at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. Pacquiao was defending his WBO welterweight title against Bradley and by the end of the match, he was quite confident that he won. However, when the scores were announced, Pacquiao and everyone else were
shocked. One judge scored Manny with 115 points and Bradley with 113 points, whereas the other two ranked Bradley with 115 points and Pacquiao with 113 points.
Right after the match, Arum expressed his anger saying, “I want to investigate whether there was any undue influence, whether the (Nevada Athletic Commission) gave any particular instruction and how they came to this conclusion.”
On the other hand, Pacquiao said he gave his best but maybe his best was not good enough. After the bout, Pacquiao told Arum that he wants a rematch and Arum accepted his request. It should be noted here that the contract Pacquiao signed had a rematch clause,
which Pacquiao can revoke anytime.
The bout already took everyone with storm. Social media websites and the blogosphere was full with negativity against the judges and Bradley. Most fans, analysts and fighters believe Pacquiao won the match but he was robbed. According to Amir Khan, the split
decision was a complete ‘robbery’ and Manny Pacquiao should have been the victorious man. Despite whatever anyone has to say, Bradley and his trainer Joel Diaz are satisfied with the decision.
