Bob Arum thinks a rematch between Pacquiao and Bradley will not sell – Boxing News
Now that the WBO has recommended a rematch between Pacquiao and Bradley, believing that Pacquiao won the fight, promoter Bob Arum is the man to approach. Both the fighters, Bradley and Pacquiao, are up for the rematch but Bob Arum thinks it will not be a
seller. According to Arum, the June 9 fight was completely one-sided, which makes a rematch doubtful of selling.
However, Arum insists that if Pacquiao wants a rematch then he will go for it. Arum revealed, “Obviously, he's the boss, he's the fighter, and to the extent possible, I'll do what he says. Otherwise, I wouldn't have his loyalty. I have to talk to him, though,
and make certain he understands all the ramifications, [and see] if he is aware of what the public's perception is. I would have to have, if I were going to do a rematch, an investigation, which is ongoing with the attorney general's office, to clarify the
situation. If it was simply the incompetence of the judges and a simple mistake, period, which is what you and I suspect, and they determine there is no wrongdoing, that's easy to remedy. All we do is have a rematch with different judges.”
He added that it despite everything else being in place, a rematch would still be hard to organise and sell. He even spoke about how people are calling him the culprit behind Bradley’s controversial win. According to Arum, most of the websites out there
believe it was his plan to make Bradley win so that the rematch can be a bigger seller. However, he denied all such suspicions, saying he had nothing to do with it.
On the other hand, Pacquiao feels good about the WBO’s review decision. Yesterday, after the results of the review were released, Pacquiao confidently told his fans that he would bring the WBO welterweight title to them again. He told him to stay calm and
believe in him because soon the title will be back home. For now, it seems like Pacquiao’s rematch against Bradley will not take place this year and the Filipino will go for another opponent, probably Marquez or Cotto.
