Bob Arum wants to make Pacquiao vs. Marquez happen again – Boxing News
As expected, Top Rank’s Bob Arum is ready to go for a fourth fight between Mexican fighter Juan Manuel Marquez and Filipino fight king Manny Pacquiao. Following Pacquiao’s devastating loss at the hands of Marquez, Arum believes the fifth fight will be a
bigger match than a super-fight between Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao.
“We're gonna, I think, do another fight with Juan Manuel Marquez. That was a great fight,” said Arum in an interview with TMZ.
“He [Pacquiao] ran into a really good right hand, and we'll see what happens next time,” Arum added.
Pacquiao lost via knockout to Marquez, who has been in the ring with the Filipino thrice. Luckily, Marquez got his revenge over Pacquiao by knocking him out cold. It was the first time Marquez achieved a victory over the Pac-man. On the other hand, Pacquiao
still stands with 2 victories over Marquez, with the first fight ending up in a tie.
“It could have been worse and I could have been in serious trouble,” said Pacquiao in his previous interview while talking about the knockout blow.
“If I had the strength to get up at that time, I would have fought back with Marquez and I would probably have received more punches,” he added.
Both fighters locked horns at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas earlier this month on December 9. It was an epic battle between two of the world’s best fighters. Pacquiao was winning the showdown on points but he decided to knock Marquez out.
Pacquiao’s decision was wrong and he ended up being knocked out himself. It was a brutal knockout blow from Marquez that left the Filipino face down on the canvas. For now, Marquez stands as the better man between the two. On the other hand, Pacquiao has
lost his credibility. He went down in ratings on The Ring magazine. He was first on top but now he stands at number 6.
Pacquiao needs to score a knockout victory over Marquez in order to settle the score. Winning on points again against the Mexican might not do the rivalry justice.
