Bob Arum’s comparison of Floyd Mayweather and Joseph Goebbels – Boxing News
Bob Arum, Top Rank’s chief promoter, in his recent interview compared the WBC welterweight champion Floyd Mayweather with Adolf Hitler’s publicist Joseph Goebbels. Hall of Fame promoter Bob Arum thinks Floyd Mayweather Jr. is of the same mindset as of Joseph
Goebbels, who believed that the more you repeat your ideas the more people will believe it.
Bob Arum was being interviewed regarding the mega-bout between Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather. He was asked if Manny Pacquiao is unable to cope up with Floyd Mayweather’s demands of drug tests, and Arum said, “For two years Pacquiao has said that he
will take any drug test whoever administers it so why is that still being talked about by Mayweather? You see Mayweather is from the school of propaganda that Joseph Goebbels, who was (Adolf) Hitler's publicist, adopted. The more you say things over and over
again the more people believe them.”
Things between Bob Arum and Floyd Mayweather have been sizzling right from the day Arum decided to leave Floyd. Previously, Arum used to promote Floyd but now he promotes Pacquiao. In his previous interview, Mayweather said that he has worked with Arum and
he knows Arum is a big liar and he does not want to bring Pacquiao to the ring against him.
Mayweather recently went head to head with Puerto Rican Miguel Cotto, a fight that had Mayweather bleeding from his nose and mouth. Even though Mayweather won, many analysts and former fighters were unhappy with his performance. According to most critics,
Mayweather’s defence was weak and only if had Cotto had good punching power, he could have taken Mayweather down. On the other hand, the same critics have appreciated Cotto’s defence skills. By the end of the fight, Cotto seemed untouched while Mayweather
was bleeding badly.
In addition, most fans were expecting Mayweather to knock out Cotto, but it did not happen. Instead, Mayweather took down the Puerto Rican via anonymous decision, something that does not sit well with a ferocious fighter like Mayweather who boast his brand
every now and then.
Arum did not say if the fight between Mayweather and Pacquiao will happen anytime soon or not, but he has delivered a strong blow to Mayweather for now.
