Bob Baffert, Rafael Bejarano and Game On Dude honoured at the closing of the Betfair Hollywood Park meet
After the Betfair Hollywood Park spring/summer meet concluded on 15th July, 2012, the jockeys, trainers and runners were awarded. Trainer Bob Baffert, rider Rafael Bejarano and runner Game On Dude were honoured as the top trainer,
top rider and top runner, respectively.
Bob Baffert saddled thirty-five winners over the course of this 50-day meet, while trainer John Sadler was second with eight less winners.
Not only this, the Hall Of Fame trainer, saddled the eleven season highest stakes victories.
The training also holds five training awards at the Betfair Hollywood Park and, this season was particularly good for him.
Bob Baffert’s charge, Game On Dude, landed two massive victories this season which earned him the title of the best runner. The five-year-old gelding’s success was a testament to the trainer’s effort on the runner.
Paired with Chantal Sutherland, the Kentucky bred runner took home the money in the Grade 1 Hollywood Gold Cup, where he prevailed over the 1 ¼ mile track and defeated his stable-mate, Richard’s Kid.
Prior to that, he succeeded in the Grade 2 Californian Stakes over 1 1/8 miles and defeated the John Sadler trained, Kettle Corn, in 1 minute and 48.01 seconds.
Richard’s Kid, earned Baffert a victory in the Prove It Stakes on 8th June, 2012, where Bejarano guided him to victory over the 1 3/8 mile track and defeated, Dynamic Host.
Rider, Rafael Bejarano received his first title at this meet with his 74 victories, including 13 stakes victories, whereas Joe Talamo was second in running, with 25 victories less.
The 30-year-old rider mounted the Bob Baffert trained, Executiveprivilege, in the Landaluce Stakes and guided him to victory over the six furlong course in 1 minute and 11.49 seconds.
The Peruvian jockey rode Gun Boat, trained by Baffert in an Allowance Race on 7th July, 2012.
The duo managed to emerge successful by defeating, High Test. In the Grade 2 A Gleam Handicap on 14th July, 2012, the rider was aboard, American Lady, who landed a decent finish in fourth place.
