Bob Baffert arrives at Del Mar with the best juveniles including Executiveprivilege and Den’s Legacy
Bob Baffert will be unleashing some of his best two-year-olds in the Del Mar meet as early as he can. The trainer has a reputation for being the best for a reason, and that will be seen when his juvenile runners take the track by storm.
The Hall Of Fame trainer has saddled winners in the Grade 1 Del Mar Futurity 10 times in the past 16 years and, there is a big chance that 10 will become 11 this year.
Last year, it was Drill, son of Lawyer Ron, out of mare Cat Dancer, prevailed in this event, where he defeated, Creative Cause in 1 minute and 22.16 seconds over seven furlongs.
The Florida bred Den’s Legacy, son of Medaglia d'Oro, out of mare, Sunshine Song, only has one start to his name, and he didn’t do so well in that one.
Teamed with jockey Rafael Bejarano, the young runner competed in his maiden at the Betfair Hollywood Park on 1st July, 2012, and finished sixth.
Power Broker is another who will represent Baffert’s , who seems to have an immense amount of potential.
Both these runners will be competing against newcomers on 21st July, 2012.
Baffert has also trained some great fillies as well and among those, Executiveprivilege, seems to have the most appeal, since she has landed two victories in her two starts and is currently on a hat-trick.
Owned by the Michael E. Pegram, Karl Watson and Paul Weitman, the two-year-old will race as a favourite in the Grade 1, $300,000 Del Mar Debutante over a distance of seven furlongs, where she will take a shot at glory.
If the filly wins this race, it will give Baffert his seventh victory in this race.
Regarding the daughter of First Samurai, out of mare Refugee, the trainer commented that “She’s just really gifted.”
Bob Baffert seems to have planned it all and, his runners have been preparing for this event and chances are that they will blossom here.
Baffert was named top trainer at the end of the Betfair Hollywood Park meet and looks like he’s aiming for another title.
