Bob Bradley close to finalizing a deal with Santos Laguna as their head coach
Bob Bradely was fired from the post of US national team coach on July, 28. For many, it was a harsh decision as the Stars and Stripes have come a long way under his tutelage. However, the manager is now being linked with a move to Mexican outfit, Santos
Laguna, Major League Soccer’s biggest rival.
Bradley was seen at the Torreón airport in Mexico on Sunday in the midst of contentious news of his links to the Mexican top flight and club. The 2010 Clausura winners for http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Mexico-c2956 are currently looking for a manager after letting go of Diego Cocca on Saturday.
The club had been in search of a new face to take the manager’s position for some time now and Bradley’s firing in July presented them with exactly what they needed.
Although the decision is yet to surface in the media, the former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/DC-United-c38901 assistant coach is said to be the strongest candidate for the position.
Santos have handed over the reins to Eduardo Rergis on interim basis. The management introduced him to the media on Sunday. However, the permanent position is still open and the decision is expected to arrive someday this week.
While he Mexican outfit won Clausura last year, they are struggling in 14th spot in Primera Division de Mexico standings this time around. The Albiverdes lost their last match to Jaguares 3-2 on Friday, resulting in the sacking of Cocca.
Bradley started his management career in 1981 with Ohio University but his professional break came in 1996, when he was made the assistant coach of US U-23 team. He joined DCU shortly afterwards to fill in the same position.
