Bob Bradley wants to coach Aston Villa

With Martin O’Neill out of the picture, there are some interests arising in the job for managing Aston Villa. Bob Bradley, US National team coach, has declared his interest in the job, but he has admitted that no approach has been made by the club.
Aston Villa is a club with great history in England; however, there are not as many successful stories as there were in the past. Therefore, the club and its fans are aspiring for silverware for a very long time. For this purpose, Martin O’Neill was placed in the club, but he failed to do his job. However, he was working with his squad, creating some quality players in the process.
As Villa were progressing towards success, a takeover of Manchester City by Abu Dhabi’s billionaire proved fatal for his success. In the first year, City took Villa’s best player, Gareth Barry, away from the club. In the current year, City decided to sign James Milner as well, who was probably the successor of Barry in the squad. Also, there were rumours about the possible bid for Ashley Young, which meant that the whole effort of O’Neill would go in vain. Therefore, O’Neill decided to resign from the job because of desperation.
After O’Neill, Kevin MacDonald became the interim coach of Aston Villa, as he was promoted from reserve team duties. MacDonald had a great start to his campaign as Villa beat West Ham by 3-0, on the opening day of English Premier League. After this performance, it was felt that MacDonald would be made a permanent manager for Villa. He showed great know-how of top flight football, which was a real concern at the beginning.
However, this dream soon came to an end, as a week after that Aston Villa were humiliated by a resurging Newcastle United side. Villa lost the match by a big margin of 6-0, which was a deadly blow to their unstable side. Newcastle United missed an year of EPL action, due to relegation, due to which they were supposed to struggle initially. However, this result will help them  regain their confidence, despite losing their first match by 3-0, against Manchester United.
Therefore, Kevin MacDonald’s position seems to be in doubts. There are already speculations about a possible hunt for a new manager, by Aston Villa. Therefore, some managers have shown their interest in the job. Former coach of English team, Sven Goran Eriksson has shown his interest as well, but it is highly likely that the job will be entrusted to Bob Bradley.
Bradley does not have a well-known history of coaching in football, as he has not been out of US through his entire career. He started coaching the college football teams, after which he went to Major League Soccer or MLS. In MLS he managed Chicago Fire, New York Red Bulls and C.D. Chivas for nine years. After a poor performance by USA in the 2006 World Cup, Bradley was placed as the national team coach.
Although, Bradley had no credentials for coaching at this level, but he managed to get a contract when other managers failed to agree to terms. However, during his tenure Bradley proved himself to be worthy for the job. His team beat the European Champions, Spain, in the 2009 Confederations Cup, getting a runners-up spot in the end. Also, in the World Cup, USA proved to be a great side, as they topped their group, ahead of England. Twice, during the World Cup, USA came from behind, showing the team’s resilience and fighting spirit.
Therefore, Bradley might have a better chance to get selected for Villa, because of his great performances for US team. Villa, on the other hand, is going towards chaos; therefore, a change of manager might be the only thing to help them out of trouble.
