Bob Bryan and Mike Bryan won the gold medal in men’s doubles - London Olympics
Top seeded twins, Bob and Mike Bryan registered a gold medal triumph in the Men’s Doubles with 6-4, 7-6(2) win over the French duo, Michael Llodra and Jo-Wilfried Tsonga at the All England Lawn Tennis Club in Wimbledon on
Saturday.
The Bryan brothers were the defending bronze medallists from 2008 Beijing Olympic Games. They are the 11-time Grand Slam title barrier and now secured their 79 doubles crowns. They also became the fourth Americans to win
the gold medal after the 1988 Seoul Summer Games.
In a post match interview, Mike Bryan told the media, "This eclipses all of our other wins. There is nothing more special than this. It's something you dream about. To add 'Golden' in front of 'Slam' is pretty cool. Those
moments, you don't really plan them out. Kind of had the magic on our side"
Bob Bryan further added, "That's the longest we've ever hugged, but we've been through a lot together. We have had our difficulties. We have spent 50,000 hours together, probably 30,000 of them on the court - hitting balls
across the net in the sun, sweating, working our butts off to get here. That hug was the culmination of all that."
The 34-year-old twins registered consistent straight set wins over majority of the competitors, indicating their great run of form throughout the Olympic tournament.

In the final showdown, the American champions were able to break the Frenchmen’s serve early in the opener to get the initial lead. Then they resisted the six break points on Mike’s serve in the seventh game, resulting in
giving them a 5-3 lead and then eventually serving out of the set at 5-4.
Their second set had a tie-break and the Bryan twins took a lead of 6-2. A spectacular sequence of volley return from the Americans on the match point concluded the emphatic gold medal victory for them at 7-6(2).

Nonetheless, French pair is very talented and have won the gold medal twice in doubles category. They have secured a silver medal against their fellow compatriots, Julien Benneteau and Richard Gasquet and a bronze against
the Spanish team comprising of David Ferrer and Feliciano Lopez.
The U.S. tennis icons are very positive about their country’s bright future in tennis and for that; they are even ready to defend their gold medal in 2016 Olympics at Rio de Janeiro.
