Bob Estes satisfied with his performance
Bob Estes performed extremely well and finished tied for the 15th position, with four others, at AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am, on Sunday, February 12, 2012.
This was the second successful tournament of Professional Golf Association’s current season, played by Estes.
In January, he appeared at the Humana Challenge in partnership with the Clinton Foundation.
The 46-year-old American professional golf player competed well at Pebble Beach and scored an 8-under par and 278 strokes in total.
He shared the 15th position with Richard H. Lee, Steven Bowditch (PB), Hunter Mahan (PB) and the great Tiger Woods (PB).
This was his best performance of this year. As in January, his scoring was higher at Humana Challenge, but he was unable to fall in the top-15.
The competition was tough and he finished the tournament at the 22nd position by scoring a 15-under par and 273 at PGA West, La Quinta.
Scoring -8 helped him to be with the top-15 players at Pebble Beach. He earned a handsome figure of $102,400.
If we compare his performance against last year’s, we can easily see he is more committed to golf this year.
In 2011, he played twelve events at PGA and was able to make the cut in only five matches. Missing the cut in seven tournaments creates a bad image for a golfer. Among those five events, at which he made cut, he was in the top-10 only one time.
After a bad performance throughout the year, he played well at the PGA Q-School in December and is now proving to be competitive on different courses.
He started his professional career in 1988 and has not won any tournament since 2002. He recorded his first professional victory in 1994 at Texas Open.
Then he won the title of FedEx St. Jude Classic and Invensys Classic at Las Vegas in 2001.
Later, he was successful in achieving the glory of Kemper Insurance Open in 2002. This was his last professional victory.
He is desperately looking to win some popular tournaments of the PGA Tour this year and going well so far.
Estes is continuously improving his strokes and swing style day after day. His impressive performance of 2012 is speaking loudly about high confidence.
He will definitely win a tournament this year and will be able to end his winning drought.
He is facing tough challenging rivals since day-one and trying to cope up against them. However, most of the time, or in short throughout his career, he failed to face challenges.
He changed his plans and focused to finish in the top-10, rather than just winning the tournament. This strategy helped him tremendously and now he is successful at achieving his plans effectively.
The current result of Pebble Beach is showing Estes’ improved performance. He scored 13 birdies and an eagle and is also controlling his bogeys. Now he is successful to be mostly at par on every hole.
The other aspect where he needs improvement is covering more driving distance. As at Pebble Beach, he covered an average of 280.1 yards. This is not enough and he needs to be more effective.
He just celebrated his 46th birthday on February 2nd. There are still many years left for him on the course. He can play and deliver plenty of impressive strokes to be on top.
His performance in 2012 so far is remarkable. If he works on further improving other elements of his game, there will be fewer hurdles between him and top positions.
