Bob Gainey returns to Dallas after a decade to much excitement of Stars-NHL News
Dallas Stars’ former general manager and coach, Bob Gainey, who has arrived in Dallas into an associated role is as much welcome to the team as he had been in an official capacity a couple of decades ago, something that Gainey says pleases him to become
a part of the former team again.
Gainey has been hired by Stars management into the capacity of an advisor/consultant, and all members of Dallas hockey community including the players and officials have hailed his second coming.
He has served the team as a head coach from 1990 to 1996, and as a general manager from 1992 to 2002, and is still well known in the local communities for the services he rendered for development of the organisation.
Gainey himself seems to be equally upbeat over his long association with the organisation and was quick to accept the opportunity of working for them once again.
He said:
"I'm really pleased and excited to be joining, or re-joining, the Dallas Stars organisation. It comes at a particular good time in my career where I've had many experiences over a long period of time in pro hockey, in the NHL. I guess I'm going to be a consultant
without boundaries."
It is of course Gainey's experience that has attracted Stars to bring him again, as the management aims to benefit from his long professional career in multiple capacities.
Importantly, Stars’ current general manager, Joe Nieuwendyk, said to be looking forward to learning from Gainey’s expertise once again.
The GM was a part of the Dallas Stars that Gainey watched as GM playing from 1995 through 2002.
Nieuwendyk said:
"I respect the way he is respected. He's obviously a bright man and has a way about him that is a calming influence. To have the opportunity to work with Bob and to hear a voice, a calming influence, a different perspective, is going to be really good for
me."
The former coach’s services have been acquired by Stars as a part of their rebuilding process as the team looks to transform itself to be a consistent winner once again.
