Bob Hewitt faces rape accuses – Tennis News
Bob Hewitt, a Hall of Famer, is accused of a rape by one of his trainees. It is one of the biggest news that has grasped the eye of everyone in the world of tennis. Such a filthy incident that still haunts both the victims and
culprit has again caught the limelight due to a recent interview of the South African female tennis trainee, Suellen Sheehan.
Sheehan who is 43-year-old and is a successful businesswoman and resides in Johannesburg has again circulated news about her rape case that happened almost 30 years ago. Ironically, she was not the only victim of such a low rated
activity by the legend of lawn tennis. Many other ladies also raised their voice against in the shadow of this report.
However, focusing on Sheehan; she was just nine years old when she was the victim of a rape incident by Hewitt at the end of the training session. Sheehan said about Hewitt, “To say his name now is easy. A year ago, I couldn't
say it," she said in an interview. "I've actually forgiven him; although he has to pay for what he did." It is a sad incident to say the least and it will definitely hurt the current coaches as well.
Hewitt is now 72 years old. He used to coach women in 1960’s to 1980’s especially those from the South African region. He was added to the list of Hall of famers in 1992. It was not once night case that happened to Sheehan. She
was victimised for almost five years until the age of 14; molested at some occurrences whilst used as an entertainer by Hewitt and his friends at other times.
Sheehan requested the South African police to commence an investigation against Hewitt, last year in December. Peter Van Niekerk is the lawyer and he represents all the victims in the case hearings at courts.
Twiggy Tolken, 44-year-old, is another courageous woman who publicly accepted the abusing attacks of Hewitt and stated, “In all honesty, Bob Hewitt needs to go to jail." Something has to be done to soothe the victims and at a faster
pace.
