Bob Le Beau will shine at the Diamond Stakes at Dundaik on Friday
The four-year-old Bob Le Beau is trying his luck yet again for a graded race and this time wants to win it which would be counted as the very first Group race win of his career. This time he is contesting for the Diamond Stakes at Dundalk on Friday evening.
It is by no means his first chance at the Grade Stakes, it is only that if he wins it then that would be the first experience for him.
Bob Le Beau has raced six times this year with F M Berry and Shane Foley, winning one race with each.
He has maintained his record with nothing below than the first three positions, has been second thrice and third only once in his most recent race.
The United Arab Emirates Handicap at the Curragh on 22nd May was when Bob Le Beau became victorious in a race for the first time.
It was a field of nineteen contestants. He is under charge Mrs. John Harrington and was ridden by Shane Foley.
He raced in rear of mid division, was at the thirteenth position by four furlong out which progressed to fifth by the time he was two furlong out then was ridden in fourth, one furlong out.
The inside of the final furlong was a battle for him as he had to struggle for getting the lead and then staying at grip with it till the finish line.
P J Prendergast was the runner up and James M Ryan’s Stephen’s Green was third.
The next opportunity that he cashed by making the most out of it was at the Martin Molony Stakes where he came first with F M Berry this time.
Initially he tracked the leaders, was second before going straight, he had to endure pressure and was challenged from over two furlong out. It was not long before he was leading and kept on with his speed before conquering the race.
Unity under charge David Wachman was second and Zerashan trained by M Halford was third.
At the Leopardstown Bob Le Beau was third but that did not really concern the connections as the positive factor that they went for was that he got a chance to race with and chase horses like Sense of Purpose very closely which no doubt adds to the experience
and skill of the horse along with preparing him for the future challenging races.
Sense of Purpose stood out first and A P O’Brien’s Marksmanship was the second in the race.
"The horse is in good form and he`s the highest-rated horse in the race so he should go close”, said Patrick Cooper
The connections are now keeping his recent performance and present fitness in mind to build on expectations for the Diamond Stakes at Dundaik on Friday.
