Bob Willis happy with his performance in 2012 Olympic Games – Sailing Update
US Olympic Sailing Team has been performing convincingly in the 2012 London Olympic Games. So far, three days of sailing have been completed and the US sailing team is struggling to get in a strong position in the event. However, some of the classes in which
the team took part had strong third day races.
The US squad participated in Finn, Star, Laser, RS:X and 49er class in which the participants performed accordingly to formulate the final results at the end of the third day. The US sailors in Star, Laser Radial, 49er and RS:X Men class have succeeded to
hit one of the Top 10 standings.
The weather conditions on the London waters were quite ideal and supportive for the sailors. The winds were blowing on higher knots which helped the participants to complete their scheduled race on time. Te forecast is expected to be the same in the upcoming
days.
One of the US Sailing Team members, Bob Willis made his debut in the 2012 Olympic Games and made a superb start in the event as he is now on seventh place in the standings. He took part in two races and claimed a seventh and 10th finish in both
races to hit the Top 19 spot. He is quite happy to participate in the event and is hoping to get improvement in the regatta.
He spoke to the local media, “The past few days we were going really fast. Today’s focus was to get off the line and be one of the first guys to the left side. I executed and was in top six at the weather mark. We’re very happy with it.”
