Don King is old, and finished. His stable of fighters has shrunk to practically nothing.

His problem always been his fixaction on HW division and HW champion, and right now, division is one of the worse in boxing.

Up in the air with Golden Boy. They have brought in all old vets, but have not done much at building a fresh stable of fighters.

Arum is a master at building up fighters. He built Oscar and Mayweather up, and doing the same with Chauvez Jr and Pavlik.

For Golden Boy to survive after Oscar and rest of the old stock like Hops, Winky, ect retire, they have to build up fighters and promote fresh talent into big names.

So far Golden Boy failed. Top Rank uses their PPV to promote younger fighters in good undercards, while Golden Boy has the worse undercards for their PPVs. Arum also uses Versus to build up his fighters against bums on network TV.

If you are asking who is currently the better promoter, then it is by far Bob Arum- his fighters are way better than King's crop of fighters.  However, historically, King was always the bigger and better promoter.  Only recently has Bob Arum's "Top Rank" surpassed "Don King Promotions."  Oscar De La Hoya's "Golden Boy Promotions" has also surpassed King's promotional company in terms of better fighters, but King is still arguably the most popular and recognizable promoter out there.

Golden boy promotion is all glitz and no substance- their fighters suck or are way past there primes.  The two biggest names in GB's stable are the two who do the most office work Overthehill DeLaHillybillyoya and that Hopkins guy that needed a whel chair to get out of the ring after he hugged calzaghe for 12 rounds.
