Bobby Brown is the hot favourite for upcoming Winter X Games
He came, he saw, he conquered. Bobby Brown took only 19 hours to rise from a skier to a superstar last year. Becoming the first skier to bag two gold medals in the same X Games was indeed a feat that not even Tanner Hall, Jon Olsson, Candide Thovex or any
other freeskiing legend were able to accomplish. The manner in which he achieved such grandeur was even more remarkable.
Brown executed the impossible by pulling a switch dub misty 12 which earned him a score of perfect 50 by the judges in this first run. The ease with which he combined these flips and spins made it look like a walk in the park. In the second run, he added
yet another perfect half-rotation and landed switch. Executing a switch double misty flip 1440, something that he had never even attempted before, Brown made his second run really stand out. There was absolutely no hesitation by the judges to give him another
perfect score. Brown just won his first X Games gold medal.
The very next day, the Denver native, currently residing in Breckenridge, shocked everyone once again by winning the most talented Winter X Games field of all time to win gold in Slopestyle. The highlight of his run was a handplant misty 720, a switch right
misty 900 and a double cork 1260 before a switch double misty 1260 on the final hit. There were few who remained unimpressed by such an extravagant run.
Brown carried his form to the following events such as Winter Dew Tour in Vermont, where he landed himself another gold model after exhibiting another impressive run. It seemed as if he enjoyed staying at the top position much to let it go anytime soon.
This was evident by his big-air victories in Australia last September and in Norway last November. His form is still very much intact which was made apparent by his magnificent runs and resulting victories in Dew tour Kellington last weekend. He is without
any doubt the most exciting skier at the moment.
The big-air ace is very much dedicated to climb the ladder of success. Currently logging 35 park runs per day, or 1050 per month, he seems to be taking his training very seriously. Adding halfpipe training to his already hectic schedule now, Brown is aiming
to become the king of halfpipe as well.
“His determination is just beyond anybody else's,” said Berman. “He's gotten mad at me because he's been up in Freeway at 8:30, and I didn't get up there till 9:30. He'd be like, 'Dude, where were you? We've wasted so much time.’”
Another very interesting thing about Bobby Brown is that he doesn’t require a warm up before his practice runs and has his engine always revved up. “He has no problem doing his hardest tricks on the first run of the day, or in bad weather, or if he's never
hit the jump before,” said freeskier Gus Kenworthy, one of Brown's roommates. “He always surprises me by doing something ridiculous and completely out of left field.”
Bobby Brown is the hot favourite in Winter X Games 15 after his victory in the Dew tour last weekend. He pushed everyone into suspense by hinting about a new trick in his arsenal that he plans on revealing in the upcoming event. Every time people catch up
to this 19-year-old ace, he manages to push himself ahead of them. We will just have to wait and if we get blessed with another record breaking performance by this captivating superstar.
