Bobby Bryant collects an authoritative unanimous decision win over Justin Flanagan – Boxing news
Bobby Bryant, the undefeated light middleweight, successfully defended his 14-bout long win streak and strengthened it by adding another win after collecting a unanimous decision over fellow countryman Justin Flanagan, the former number one WBC United States
(USNBC) light middleweight contender, in an eight-round bout held on April 7, 2012.
The ring for the bout was stretched at Landers Center situated in Southaven, Mississippi, United States and the night was headlined by the epic championship bout between James Toney and Bobby Gunn. The event was promoted by the duo of Brian Young of Prize
Fight Promotions and Greg Cohen of Greg Cohen Promotions.
Bobby, 19, was entering in his career’s 15th bout and boasted wins over all the opponents. In a very short age he has caught media’s attention and is being denoted by most as America’s future light middleweight prospect.
The battle between the two belligerents was a toe-toe toe one and not much difference resided in the stats and resume of the duo. Justin was also entering in his career’s 15th bout.
The 29-year-old Arkansas hailing Flanagan has successfully nailed nine men and five of them by knockouts. To some extent, it can be said that Bobby’s resume was flawless and overshadowed Justin’s with authoritative wins.
The bout kicked off and from the very beginning it seemed that Bobby is taking on one of his sparring partners since he did not halt himself and leashed a series of jabs pummelling Flanagan’s body and head continuously.
The eight-round wild ride carried on and Bobby was the one who kept on battering by producing impressive left-right combinations. In round five, Bryant was close to collecting a knockout but Justin’s resilience came in and helped him out hence absorbing
three to four harsh body and face jabs.
From then onwards, Justin threw countable fists and relied heavily on hugging halting Bobby to some extent from throwing lethal jabs. A bird’s eye view of all the eight rounds clearly showed that Bryant had a significant upper hand and Justin was just trying
to avoid Bobby.
The three designated judges allocated 79-73, 80-72, and 80-72 to Bobby Bryant awarding him his career’s 15th win. Bryant not only has successfully defended his streak but has proved that he possesses the requisite ability to move up in the division to take
on heavy pounders.
