Bobby Parnell to find place in New York Mets bullpen at exclusion of D.J. Carrasco - MLB

Bobby Parnell and Miguel Batista are expected to find a spot in New York Mets final day bullpen only to eclipse D.J. Carrasco chances for the same place. What is significant is the fact Carrasco, the pitcher, whose position Parnell will take possesses immense
experience, not to mention his 312 strike-outs, 24-21 win-loss standings and in this context it becomes interesting to see how Parnell will fare in the upcoming regular season.
Carrasco signed a two year contract with Mets in 2010 and as of today the club owes him $1.2 million. After a below par 6.02 ERA he recorded last season, everyone thought he will not be a part of 2012 training camp. Surprisingly though he was called up for
training with management hoping he stood up for credentials that impressed club in the first place to take him.
As Spring Training is underway, he is trying hard to come up with something extraordinary. In-fact his Saturday’s outing gave glimpse of the kind of improvements he has brought to himself. Mets will look to see him drawing a trade interest by dint of his
performance in the training. One of teams’ official has confirmed a view within the management that he may be traded to Miami Marlins, mainly because he had a great deal of success while playing under Ozzie Guillen, the current manager of Marlins.
If it was not for tremendous performance shown by Parnell in two games during Spring Training, Carrasco will not be out of equation entirely. Parnell’s 100 mph fastball, subtle curveballs and a scoreless inning he pitched on Wednesday has made him a serious
contender for Opening Day roster. Under his pitching coach, Dan Warthen, he is streamlining his fastball, aiming at bringing maximum strike-outs by employing upper and lower deviations.
“I just don’t want it anywhere from belly button to genitals,” Dan Warthen said.
As for Batista, his ordinary show on Saturday against Washington Nationals has dismayed officials but has not changed their intention even an inch as regard to his role during the season. Thus it will take something quite unimpressive for these two to make
way for D.J. Carrasco in the season for the Mets.
