Bobby Reynolds beats Clement Reix in straight sets to enter the last four – Van Open 2011 CH
Bobby Reynolds of America has qualified for the semi-finals as he handled Clement Reix a 6-3, 6-0 loss in the quarterfinal of Vancouver Open at the Hollyburn Country Club.
America’s second seed broke his opponent once in the opening set and then a further three times in an extremely one-sided second set to record a comfortable win after only
70 minutes on court.
Although Reix matched the American in the early stages, he dropped serve in the sixth game, and Reynolds won all the remaining games in an impressive fashion to seal a convincing
victory.
The American, who went one up in his head-to-head series against the French, lost his opening service game of the match as the Frenchman quickly found his range with a couple
of baseline drives. But the world number 122 quickly broke back in the next game and slowly began to wear his French opponent down.
In the first set, Reix played well and led by 1-0. However, Reynolds managed to find the range of his forehands and grabbed the second, game 1-1. After going through a tough
opener, Reynolds had taken the score to 4-3, as Reix lost concentration and Reynolds ended the first set with 6-3 scoreline.
In the second set, Reynolds happened to dominate the game from the very start, and the player who was once ranked as high as 63 in the ATP rankings lists, managed to make
Reix unable to make powerful returns and immediately clinched the second set with a bagel win to end Reix’s impressive run here at Vancouver, Canada.
Reynolds wrapped up the match pretty comfortably as his French opponent did not offer any great deal of resistance and lost the match with a whopping difference of nineteen
points in total. The American had gotten the better of his 27-year-old opponent by scoring an acceptable 69 percent on service, 48 percent of return and 59 percent of points in total.
In Semifinal round of the Vancouver Open 2011, Reynolds will face world number 411, Robby Ginepri, who made it through to the semi-finals after defeating tennis player
from Slovenia, Grega Zemlja with a 6-4, 7-6(7) scoreline.
