Bobby Reynolds outmuscles Daniel Kosakowski to reach quarters – Tallahassee Tennis Challenger 2012
In an all-American clash, eighth seeded Bobby Reynolds bounced back to triumph over his lucky loser compatriot, Daniel Kosakowski, in a three set thriller at the Tallahassee Tennis Challenger 2012 on Wednesday. He joggled up a 3-6, 6-3, 6-2 victory against
the 20-year-old to advance into the final eight at this ATP (Association of Tennis Professionals) challenger tour event held in Florida, United States.
Reynolds made a shaky entry but later found his momentum, ultimately pulling out the victory in two hours and 25 minutes at this hard court event. The contestants last fought each other at the Savannah Challenger two years ago and after earning this success,
the seed maintained his winning record against Kosakowski.
The world number 347 stormed into the Forestmeadows Tennis Complex and after earning the critical break in the second game, he jumped to a 3-0 lead. The lucky loser held his composure after that and swiped in remaining serves to seal the opener with a 6-3
win.
Ranked 115th in the South African Airways ATP World Tour Rankings, Reynolds on the other end sought his rhythm in the second set. He earned the coveted break in the second game and leaped to a 3-0 lead. The higher ranked American then kept his remaining
serves and clinched the equaliser with a 6-3 score line.
The 29-year-old kept momentum running into the final set and earned the desiderated break in the opening game to take the initial lead. He maintained his intensity and plucked remaining serves. Reynolds cashed in another break chance in the seventh game
and won the decider with a 6-2 score line.
Summing up the veteran’s performance, Reynolds spilled more double faults and clobbered a lower first serve share of 66 per cent as compared to his compatriot’s 72 per cent. However, he impressively clicked 44 out of 59 points on it and converted three out
of 13 break opportunities to earn the spotlight.
Up next for Reynolds is the ninth seed, Frank Dancevic, who stomped over the British challenger, Jamie Baker, in straight sets to set-up this outing. The Canadian cashed in all four break opportunities to seal the deal with a 7-5, 7-5 success.
