Bobby Ryan scores last minute decider as Anaheim Ducks win over Los Angeles Kings 3-2 -NHL Update
Bruce Boudreau had been craving a win ever since he joined Anaheim as their new coach following his firing from the Washington Capitals. The Ducks came through as Bobby Ryan made the final minute deciding shot in the third period to lift the team to victory
for Boudreau’s first win, over the Los Angeles Kings, 3-2, on Tuesday night, December 6, 2011, at the sold-out Honda Center in Anaheim, California, United States.
It might not have been anything special for others, but for veteran coach Bruce Boudreau, it was certainly a big moment with his new team across the country.
"It's not the Cup, but it felt pretty good," Boudreau said. "I felt really good for the players, because they were smiling. They worked so hard. Had it gone the other way after another (blown) lead like that, I was a little worried about it. We got a lucky
break, and they got a lucky break, so it sort of evened out."
Ryan added the first of the night for his eighth of the 2011-2012 National Hockey League (NHL) regular season assisted by veteran forward, Teemu Selanne, followed by Corey Perry nearly 10 minutes later to extend the lead.
Slava Voynov scored his fourth of the season with less than 16 seconds remaining in the second period while Justin Williams made the equaliser nearly midway through the final period which had LA more than happy at their sudden outburst, but Ryan’s game-winner
at the 19:11 mark with 49 seconds to go really made the day for a struggling Anaheim Ducks franchise.
"It found a way to go in," Ryan said. "For us, giving leads up like that, it's a whole different feeling coming into this room tonight."
Anaheim Ducks will be playing against the St. Louis Blues on Thursday to kick off their two-game road trip while Los Angeles Kings have the next against the Minnesota Wild on the same day.
It will certainly be exciting to see whether the Anaheim Ducks will be able to keep the momentum which they have now gained under Bruce Boudreau running in their upcoming contests or not.
As the season progresses, each game will be more and more crucial for the team.
