Bobby Ryan scores twice as Anaheim Ducks rally past St. Louis Blues 4-2 -NHL Match Update
Anaheim Ducks showed that their trip overseas during the 2011 National Hockey League (NHL) Compuware Premier Series did not tire them out by winning their third straight against St. Louis Blues, Sunday night, October 16, at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California,
United States.
Bobby Ryan proved why he is one best younger player’s in the league by picking up three points during the match for two goals and one assist.
"It's huge", said Perry, the NHL's only 50-goal scorer last season. "We've been talking about the last couple of games. We've had our chances. We haven't been down on ourselves or anything. We've been having fun at the rink, and that's what matters".
Thus far, Anaheim Ducks have won three matchups back-to-back starting off with New York Rangers in Stockholm, Sweden, followed by a shutout of San Jose Sharks and now St. Louis Blues.
Even though Anaheim is missing one of their veteran forwards, Jason Blake, who was injured during their matchup against San Jose on Friday with a cut on his forearm, Ducks look more motivated and confident than ever before.
"We knew we would score eventually", coach, Randy Carlyle, said. "But the longer you go, the more the pressure mounts and guys start squeezing their sticks. Even tonight, pucks bounced away from us, but we'll take the win".
Ryan scored the opening goal 2:20 into the first period. He was answered by Blues player, Patrik Berglund, who scored his second of the season and levelled the matchup, sending both teams tied into the third and final period of regulation.
Anaheim overpowered St. Louis in the third period as Ryan set up Francois Beauchemin for his first, followed by Corey Perry taking advantage of the first power play opportunity of the period and Ryan scoring again, all within 6:24.
Alexander Steen scored the final goal of the match for St. Louis nearly midway through with more than enough time to either level it or take control but failed to do so.
Anaheim Ducks face San Jose Sharks again on Monday while St. Louis Blues continue their California road trip against Los Angeles Kings on Tuesday.
