Bobby Thigpen shows delight to become Chicago White Sox’s bullpen coach – MLB Update
Chicago White Sox new bullpen coach Bobby Thigpen is quite happy for his new role in the franchise.
Thigpen has been working with the White Sox as pitching coach for past four years with best of his abilities.
His performance in past four years has also been quite impressive as he always emphasised on an aggressive game plan.
His contribution is huge in the White Sox’s roster as he introduced a decent approach that proved beneficial last season.
However, the White Sox could not get any extra benefit from Thigpen’s new approach and lost too many games at the last stages of the 2012 regular season.
Now he has become the White Sox’s bullpen coach, he is expressing his feelings with great pleasure.
"I think it will be (a) smooth (transition) no matter what, Last year at major league camp I got to meet the older guys who I had not had much face time with and it was fine. I think as a player no matter how old they are they still want to absorb some kind of knowledge,” Thigpen said.
Later White Sox manager Robin Ventura said for Thigpen, "I have known Thiggy for my entire career, Once Juan was hired in Boston and when we looked at it with the players we have right now and him also being a bullpen guy it became a natural fit."
Thigpen started his professional baseball career with the Chicago White Sox in 1986 and received much appreciation from the very beginning.
He played in the White Sox’s roster for over six years while later joined the Philadelphia Phillies. He also played for the Seattle Mariners and Fukuoka Daiei Hawks.
Receiving an All-Star selection in 1990, Thigpen also won American League Rolaids Relief Man of the Year Award in the same year.
Experts believe that former White Sox all time leader in saves, will bring stability in their bullpen. His time as pitching coach has already given the White Sox’s a great aggressive game plan while his new role as bullpen coach will also test his coaching skills in the near future.
