Bobby Valentine might be the most perfect choice for Boston Red Sox – MLB Update
If the management at Boston Red Sox is looking to inject some firepower in the roster for next season, Bobby Valentine might be the answer to their questions. With tons of experience to back him, Valentine has made a name for himself in nourishing raw talent
into a world-class one. His stay with the Texas Rangers and New York Mets was enough to highlight his class, but now, the veteran manager is vying for the job at Boston.
After spending almost eight hours at Fenway Park, Valentine has impressed most at the franchise and there is a general belief that it is only a matter of time before he is formally unveiled as the new manager of the ballclub. After former manager Terry Francona
resigned after this past season, there was a vacant spot for which many desire. However, Valentine has all what it takes to authoritatively handle the affairs.
Valentine’s baseball knowledge cannot be challenged, but it is his outspoken nature that might haunt general manager Ben Cherington. Nevertheless, Cherington accepted the fact that Bobby has learned a lot from his past experiences and that his appointment
will be fitting for the ballclub in every sense.
It was felt that there is a vacuum of discipline among the team and owner John Henry is not compromising on this matter. The Red Sox were on course to qualify for the playoffs this past season, but ended up in disgrace, even failing to secure the Wild Card
spot.
They were knocked out on the last day of the season, more so because of their behaviour than their on-field performance. There were allegations on players drinking during games in the dugout, but the manager seemed to have lost control over things. Although
the players accused were not in the line-up for those respective games, it still challenged the etiquette of the dugout as well as the sport itself.
When asked as to what his approach will be if given the job, Valentine asserted that he will be willing to have an open relationship with the general manager and will be open to any feedback which the management has. It will be interesting to see how matters
unfold.
