Bobby Valentine visits Fenway Park – MLB Update
The Boston Red Sox are currently looking for a manager and it seems that Bobby Valentine will be the most fitting choice in these circumstances. His managerial skills cannot be challenged and the man is known for transforming teams. He did so with the New
York Mets and the Texas Rangers and has the ability to do it again with the American League stalwarts.
To show concern on this matter, Valentine came to Fenway Park and met with officials for almost eight hours, in what was termed to be an introductory meeting. Red Sox general manager Ben Cherington was present in the meeting and it is believed that there
was a detailed discussion regarding the vacant managerial post.
Former manager Terry Francona called it a day after this past season, where Boston failed to earn a postseason berth after having dominated the American League. The Red Sox kept the New York Yankees under check throughout the season, before the latter accelerated
in September and denied the former any chance of qualification. To accompany this dip in form, the team lost its top notch in the Wild Card standings on the last day of the season, which was marred by controversy more than performance.
Some time into the offseason, it came to the limelight that several Red Sox players were involved in drinking during games and that the manager had no control over the proceedings in the dugout. Although the players involved were not a part of those respective
games, it was the decorum of the dugout that was being challenged. Team owner John Henry is not known to make compromises, neither was there any in this case.
Valentine described his experience at Fenway Park as different and stated that the process was somewhat new to him. Nevertheless, Bobby is willing to take up the job and the franchise is ready to welcome him.
Commenting on Valentine’s stature, Cherington said, “He’s a really smart baseball guy who knows how to help a team win a game.”
Although the team plans to interview at least one more candidate, it is obvious that Bobby’s charisma is matchless, making him the supreme choice.
