  1. Unfortunately, a lot of wild animals are forced by urban development to move closer and closer to humans. When we build neighborhoods we are taking THEIR homes from them, so it's only natural that they would still hang around, trying to find a meal. Bobcats are wild animals, and they definitely have the capacity to hurt or kill, but if you leave them alone 99% of the time they will also leave YOU alone. Live and let live; don't harass the wild animals, and they won't attack.

But if you know there are bobcats in your area, I wouldn't suggest leaving your dog outside for long periods of time - I have a cousin in New Mexico where coyotes run rampant in their neighborhood at night, and it's well known that you don't leave your pets outside if you want them to make it through the night.

  2. We have seen a bobcat on our property and we are pretty sure it is what killed our baby ducks and geese, and now our baby kittens have come up missing one by one.

It could have been a hawk or owl that got the kittens as they were outside, but the ducks and geese were in an enclosed pen with walls & roof & we found evidence of an animal digging under.

Bobcats are usually very shy around people and not aggressive.  It is unusual to even see one because they are very secretive.  But watch out for Fluffy--they will attack pets.

If you are really concerned about it, see if there is a wildlife rescue agency in your area that might come and trap it humanely and relocate it.

Otherwise, you can check the laws in your state, but I think you probably have the right to shoot it if it is attacking you or your animals.

  3. Bobcats are cute and fuzzy like polar bears.

As environmentalists, we should all want them in our yards.

If you really care about the environment, put some food out for it.

  4. no there harmles

  5. bobcats or a lynx, they are similar in appearance, are predators.  they kill and eat prey animals.  they live around us in parks, golf courses, and on undeveloped property.  are they dangerous?  yes, they kill other animals to live.  why do they live where we do?  it is a lot easier for them to 'make a living'.  should you be concerned?  yes, they also contract and spread rabies, so be very careful, especially if they are acting unafraid or aggressive toward you or your dogs.  be careful, call animal control, they may want to trap and remove it to a more suitable environment...good luck
