Captain of the USA men’s national football team, Carlos Bocanegra, is moving from Scotland’s Rangers F.C to Spanish Segunda Division outfit, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Racing-de-Santander-c40303.
In a last minute transfer, Los Racinguistas were able to snatch Bocanegra for one season. The American centre-back was a favourite amongst fans back in Rangers FC.
Bocanegra started his football career at Chicago Fire S.C.
During his time in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chicago-Fire-c38795, Bocanegra won the MLS Rookie of the year award and also received the MLS Defender of the Year Award twice. Moreover, he also won the Lamar Hunt U.S Open Cup, which is the oldest ongoing national football competition in the
U.S.
Due to his achievements, news of the American were heard all the way in Fulham.
He signed up for the English club in 2004. During his time in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749, Bocanegra spent most of his appearances as a centre-back, occasionally playing as a left-back, and sometimes even occupying the holding midfielder’s position.
During the 2006-2007 season, despite playing primarily defence, Bocanegra was Fulham’s second leading scorer.
In 2008, Bocanegra moved to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/France-c2899, where he played for Stade Rennais F.C.
During his two-season time span he spent with the French club, the U.S defender appeared in nearly all of their fixtures, and even scored a couple of goals as well.
In 2010, the US national was bought by AS Saint-Etienne for £400,000. The U.S captain did well, scoring two goals in thirty five matches.
However, he only stayed there for a year, and went to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Scotland-c756 when he was bought by, then league champions, Rangers FC, for an undisclosed amount.
The American quickly became a favourite amongst the Ranger fans, who even dubbed him “Captain America”. He even captained http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Rangers-c40314 in a 4-0 victory over Arbroath F.C for the Scottish Cup.
However, with Rangers F.C becoming insolvent earlier on this year, and even being forced to start off in the Third Division of the Scottish League, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Carlos-Bocanegra-c8396 felt that his international career was at a risk and needed to switch clubs quickly.
As a result, Rangers F.C have agreed to a season-long loan for the American to Spanish Segunda Division team, Racing Santander.
Although http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Racing-c40298 Santander were relegated last season from La Liga, the move may be promising for the American captain in terms of experience. Bocanegra has played in the MLS, EPL, the French League, the Scottish League, and maybe he needs to experience a
little bit of Spanish Football.
