Bodemeister expected to win Preakness Stakes
Bodemeister is expected to prevail in the Preakness Stakes (Grade 1) at Pimlico in the United States of America (USA) on Saturday, May 19, 2012. A cash prize of £387,097 will be awarded to the race winner.
The going is expected to be fast in the 1 mile, 1 furlong and 110 yard race, which will test the stamina of all participants. Following entries have been confirmed: Tiger Walk, Teeth Of The Dog, Pretension, Zetterholm, Went The Day Well, Creative Cause,
Bodemeister, Daddy Nose Best, I´ll Have Another, Optimizer and Cozzetti.
Out of the above mentioned runners, Bodemeister seems to have the best chance of winning, as he is in terrific form at the moment. The bookmakers have shown full faith in his abilities and the bettors are also expected to risk a lot of bets in his favour.
The three-year-old colt has participated in four races until now, winning a couple of them. Moreover, he has also secured the runner up spot on the same number of times, which means that he has never dropped out of the top two.
The Bob Baffert’s trainee made his debut in February this year and was dominant right from his very first race. He was not rated as the favourite back then, but stormed to a comprehensive victory by more than nine lengths.
However, Bodemeister was unable to keep the momentum going, as he ended up runner up in his second outing. He followed that up with a spectacular win, which gave him more confidence.
In his most recent race, the lightening quick colt was given a tough time by his rivals and he had to settle for the runner up position. He has the tools to make a comeback though and will definitely be a force to reckon with at Pimlico.
Today’s favourite runner will be partnered by young runner, M. E. Smith, who is new to the sport and has not taken part in a lot of races.
Other than the race favourite, I´ll Have Another might also manage to attract some bets in his favour, as he is carrying excellent momentum with him. He has won three back to back events, which shows the kind of form he is in at the moment.
