Bodin Issara, Maneepong Jongjit earn a spot in Men’s Doubles final – India Open Update
The young and spirited Men’s Doubles experts Bodin Issara and Maneepong Jongjit of Thailand wrote a new saga of success in Yonex Sunrise India Open by making into finals of the event on April 28, 2012.
They cast out Angga Pratama-Ryan Agung Saputra in semi-final match with 21-15, 20-22 and 21-15 scores on board.
As India Open approaches its climax many upsets have been seen and this exhausting 48-minute tussle is new addition to that list.
The Thai campaigners performed beyond expectations and stunned their higher ranked rivals to reserve their rights to be the finalist while the World Number 16 pair Angga Pratama-Agung Saputra left the court with low shoulders after three nerve-racking sets.
In opening game of the match, both teams remained close until 6-6 but then inexperienced duo Bodin Issara-Maneepong Jongjit played fast badminton and placed a decent margin of 11-7 before the break.
After interval, they turned their lead into six point advantage easily and their challengers could not lift this burden and went down with scoreboard flashing final figure of 21-15.
Though, the Indonesians levelled the lead in following game but they had to earn the second set as their lower ranked competitors chased them all the way to game point situation.
The Thai couple had a slight edge until mid-game break and they remained in commanding position with three-point advantage at 17-14 but the opposing duo Angga Pratama-Agung Saputra tipped the scale into their favour by placing 22-20 total in the end.
However, the Indonesians looked off colour in the decider as they kept trailing behind their opponents and frittered away their effort of the previous set.
The scratch pair of Bodin Issara and Maneepong Jongjit established a comfortable lead of three points in first half and then dictated their rivals all the way.
They displayed elevated craft in later half also and raised their total to 16 points. This five-point deficit turned too heavy for the Indonesians and they surrendered without creating any challenge.
Men’s Doubles experts of Thailand wrapped the show with a notable margin of 21-15 in third and final set.
Now they will meet the winner of semifinal contest between Goh V Shem-Lim Khim Wah and Ko Sung Hyun-Yoo Yeon Seong in title match.
