Bodoglife.com Bedding?

Question

Does Bodog require you to fax anything over in order for you to redeem your check? I think it's kind of risky to be sending DL and SSN over to a website.

If so, are there any sportsbooks out there that doesn't require that?

It depends on the deposit method that you used and the site you are doing business with.  There are many sites that will require this from their clients, especially when you deposit via credit card.  There are deposit methods that will allow you to make withdrawals without jumping through this hoop.  

There is some good and some bad advice listed in the other answers.  Bodog is no longer the trustworthy site it once was.  They have slid in customer service and recently had $24 millon seized by the feds in the US.  They routinely bounce checks and have long delays in payment processing.  Their lines are also terrible.

Sportsbook.com is even WORSE!  If you are not going to make a profit and consistently lose then sportsbook.com will seem like a great site.  If you win then you will see that this is a scam site.  I have heard from many of their clients who have been wooed by the huge sign up bonus and won big only to have sportsbook.com seize their funds for various make believe rules!  Trust me stay away from both of these sites!

Many sites have customers do this to take payout as a security measure.  Remember, SSN's are public info, anyway.  Though I wouldn't advertise my own, it isn't hard for ANYONE to get access to anyone elses'.  

That said, I wouldn't send my info to Bodog these days.  Since changing high ranking personnel several months ago, their reputation and payout system has severely gone down the tubes.  To top it off, their sports lines are often published an hour or two before the event starts, and the lines are heavily skewed to the house.  

There are other great sites you can choose from, I'd recommend Intertops or Bookmaker.  You can read a review of each at http://dagus-statistics.com/reviews.htm where you will also find secure deposit and withdrawal tips/articles, bonus codes to their best bonus, as well as free sports picks.  Check that site before you open any new betting account.  

But keep in mind, when you are asked to verify your info to the betting site, your security is in their best interest.  They want to make sure you are the one getting the payouts, and to make sure someone else isn't using your info!  But, if you are that worried about your info being used in an unscrupulous manner, I'd like to know what you do when you fill out credit card applications, apply for a lease at an apartment complex or for a mortgage, job applications, driver's licenses, etc.

I've used Bodog, but I signed up a long time ago and I never gave them an SS#.  If you want to withdraw from them, you have to make an imprint of the card using a pencil and mail that in before they'll send you a check.  I did that a year ago and haven't had any trouble withdrawing since.

I also signed up with Sportsbook.com about ten years ago, and I prefer this site. The lines on Bodog are inflated on the favorites when it comes to football, so if you're betting underdogs, use Bodog, if you're betting favorites, use Sportsbook.  Sportsbook gets their lines up eariler and doesn't limit parlays like Bodog will, especially on totals.
