Body And Soul aiming for the DBS Premier Yearling Stakes
The 10 to 1 entry for the Class 2 DBS Premier Yearling Stakes, the two-year-old bay filly, Body And Soul who has lost just once through the four career outings, is one of the strongest links on the line-up today.
The six furlong race on Thursday, 23rd August, 2012 will be contested by twenty contestants for bagging the prize money of £147,737. The race will be staged at York. Quite a few entries in the race are those who have raced against the Tim Easterby trained, but have lost at different instances.
She failed in the career debut on 11th May in the Calverts Carpets York Ltd Median Auction Maiden Fillies’ Stakes at Nottingham over five furlongs. Refusing to respond to the first asking of the career, the two-year-old won the British Stallion Studs Supporting British Racing E B F Maiden Stakes by a length on 29th May, 2012 at Ripon over five furlongs.
Body And Soul won the race in partnership with jockey, David Allan.
The race marked the first pillar of the hat-trick that the daughter of Captain Rio bagged by claiming the next two races that came her way.
The Michael Downey & Roalso Ltd bred then enjoyed victory in the British Stallion Studs Supporting British Racing E B F Novice Stakes on 19th June, 2012 at Thirsk over five furlongs.
The Irish bay filly tracked the leaders, and made some progress two furlongs out. Her prominence was challenged in the next furlong which she regained by leading inside the final furlong. She stayed strong and defeated the favourite entry of the race, Forray, by two lengths.
Settling third behind the winner was, Lady Ibrox.
Until yet the last stop of the C. H. Stevens owned was in the Weatherbys Super Sprint on 14th July, 2012 at Newbury over five furlongs.
Sent as the favourite of the race, the two-year-old chased the leaders and became dominant when there remained the final furlong, but was able to escape defeat only by a neck’s difference.
The runner-up of the race was, Satsuma who was soon followed by, Momalorka.
She will be accompanied by jockey, David Allan, and the two will draw from the ninth stall.
Owing to the level of the competition in the field, it is debatable if she will be able to extend beyond hat-trick today.
