Question:

Body by fisher plate?

i have a 1970 chevelle malibu 307, i dont know a whole lot about classic cars, i got lucky and got this as a birthday present. i am wondering where this plate would be on my car so i can decode it to figure out the build date, original color, original trim, and where it was built. thanks in advance.

  1. Is there a car club in your town?

    if so talking to people face to face is a GREAT way to get your question answered.  Also, on older cars (50's vintage) the "body by fisher" plate was on the inside of the drivers door, on the edge of the door casing.

    I think that's the correct way to explain it, I'm better with a wrench than words.


  2. that would be located on the firewall close to or around the brake booster or master cylinder.

  3. on mine it is on the door sill plate in the front doors. with the front doors open you look down and apiece of chrome has that symbol right in the middle. but if you are looking for the build information, that can be found on the driver side of the engine bay on the fire wall,around the master cylinder. once again that is where mine is on a 68 gto.
