Bodycount release date announced, Red Dead Redemption to get more playable characters via a DLC Pack
Game Publishers seem to be either building hype for their titles, which are due out this holiday season, or trying their best to market them for an earlier release, in an attempt to avoid the feverishly competitive holiday season altogether.
One such title, which falls in the latter category, is Bodycount. Touted to be an over the top shooter, with its own unique and quite mesmerising art style, the game is said to be a more realistic - the reader must note the word realistic is used very lightly
- version of Bulletstorm.
While Codemasters, the game’s developer, may not appreciate the comparison, there are quite a few similarities between the two titles in the sense that they are both arcade shooters. Yet Bodycount’s more conventional setting is a tone down from the atmosphere
in Bulletstorm.
Release dates for both the European and North American regions have been announced, with players in North America having the chance to get their hands on the game on the 30th of August, while their European counterparts will have to wait until
the 2nd of September.
While there has been no news on a PC version, the game is set to hit both the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 consoles.
Boasting both a co-op mode and an intense competitive multiplayer mode, the game is looking to make a name for itself in the, already saturated, first person shooter market. The use of modern day weapons and Battlefield-esque cover destruction, the game
seems to stand a good chance of achieving that goal.
The early release date will also keep the game from competing against the likes of Modern Warfare 3, Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception and Assassin’s Creed: Revelations, which are due out during the holiday season.
While Bodycount might be the new kid on the block, Red Dead Redemption is now one of the biggest titles in the world of gaming. Rockstar are looking to maintain the game’s dominant position in the market by announcing a new DLC pack for the game.
According to the Publisher’s tweet, players can expect “fan-favourite playable characters” to be a major part of the DLC. Rockstar have not confirmed any of the characters as yet, however one can expect more news in the coming days.
The latest DLC will join the, cult classic, Undead Nightmare pack, which let players loose in the Wild West, over run with hordes of flesh eating zombies.
If the latest DLC can come anywhere near what the Undead Nightmare offered players in terms of content and Replayability, then Rockstar ought to be commended for ensuring their fans have a steady stream of content, instead of slating them for trying to squeeze
every penny possible from the series.
