Or Nasa Test pilot, how does this work? Do they get paid well? Do you have to have a military flying backround? Need an Engineering Degree?

I think you need a Doctorate Degree, to do anything in research. its not worth the money. Because if something is wrong with the plane you'll be the first to know about it.

Aerospace engineering degree for sure and i believe commercial pilots license

I would say you would need a Engineering degree, most likely in. aerospace/aeronautic or a mechanical. And alot of flight hours. Being in the military wouldn't hurt either. And I would say at least a master degree too.
